Arrival & Dismissal

When arriving to school, the classrooms will be open 5-10 minutes before 9am. Your child will be greeted at the door by one of his/her teachers. If you arrive early and see the classroom door is still closed, please wait in the hallway for the teacher to open the door before entering the classroom. The “open door” is the signal that the teachers are ready to begin welcoming the children.

Class will be dismissed right at 12noon. If you arrive a few minutes before 12:00 noon, please wait in the hallway for the teacher to indicate class is over by opening the classroom door. The teacher will again utilize the “open door” as the signal that class is dismissed and you may enter to pick up our child.

Late Pick-Up Policy

The preschool day is over at 12:00 noon. If a child is not picked up by 12:10, the Director will call the parent and the parent may be subject to pay a late fee of $5, due the following day. Repeated late pick-up is not acceptable.

Closings/Delayed Openings

Please check the website for the latest up-to-the-minute info on school closings!

• When the Wake County Public School System delays
opening of their schools by one hour, the HCP will delay opening by one hour, opening
at 10:00am instead of 9:00am and will dismiss at 12:00 noon.

• When the Wake County Public School System delays
opening of their schools by two hours,
HCP will delay opening by only
one hour, opening at 10:00am instead of 9:00am
and still dismiss at 12:00 noon.

• When the Wake County Public School system closes more than two hours,HCP will
remain closed be closed.

When Wake County Public School is closed due to inclement weather, HCP will be closed.

• We will NOT offer inclement weather make up days.
